Photography without Fear or Hangups

This is just a quick post to share one of the fun things that I get to do from time to time… I’m working with the Grade 6 Camera Club at my children’s school and the presentation above is what I shared with the group while talking about my business. I wanted to show them a little bit about what it’s like to live and work as a full time photographer.

This is the 2nd year that I’ve worked with the club. I enjoyed working with them last year but I’m even more excited about it this year because my daughter Melanie is now in Grade 6 and she is actually a member of the club. She is pretty proud of the fact that I’m helping out!

The best part of working with the group is when we all go outside together to take pictures. It’s really impressive to watch the kids work with their cameras. The creativity is amazing and they have no hangups about what they do or don’t know, or about the gear that they are using. They ignore all of that and just go out and take pictures. They all have fun and some of them are already making some really great images.

2014 Year in Review Slideshow

You can also see below for a “Year in Review” slideshow that I put together for the club. The slideshow includes a sampling of the images that I have created both personally and for my clients in the last year or so.

It’s really fun to show the personal work that I do in addition to the client jobs; it’s really good for them to see that just because photography is a job for me that doesn’t mean that it can’t also be a passion and a lifestyle!
