David West | Better Business Portraits

I had the honor of photographing a Calgary businessman recently to create business headshots for use on his website and marketing materials. David West is a Social Media Consultant and Professional Speaker, and the owner of Ekzact Solutions. Ekzact is a leading Calgary website design and search engine optimization company. They specialize in creating custom websites for small to medium-sized businesses and help them to get ranked higher on Google and ultimately convert leads to sales. David needed updated headshots to use on a rebuild of his personal website and he wanted to be able to cut out the background so that the images would blend into the existing colors on the site. I have a selection of backdrops available and I would normally recommend something more attractive than pure white for business portraits, but when the background is going to be removed anyway then the best choice is to use something clean and simple without any patterns. We decided that a pure white seamless paper backdrop would be a great choice for this session so that extraction of the backdrop in Photoshop would be easy. Kelsey Frank | Better Business Portrait

The weather is finally warming up in Calgary and I'm starting to see some call for outdoor portrait sessions. This is fantastic news as I would honestly rather do all of my sessions outside! The local parks are amazing and I love meet my clients there. These are images that I created for a local small business owner for her website, social media accounts, and marketing materials. Kelsey is the owner of Tossy Tossy, which is a brand new Professional Organizing company in Calgary. Less Is More! This is the motto of Tossy Tossy Inc! We are a Professional Organizing company specializing in home organization. We come to your home to help you identify what needs to be address to make your house the home you want it to be. This can be as simple as organizing part of one room up to organization of an entire house! It was a pleasure to work with Kelsey. Her sparkling personality shines through all the time and it was easy to create some great images of her. When I work with small business owners I always try to work with them to get images that will best reflect their brand. People in the financial and insurance industries generally want fairly conservative images, and actors usually go for much more flamboyant looks. In this case I was really trying to play up her Sassy (or Cheeky) nature because I think that it works well with Kelsey's company name... She was very happy with the images and I think they turned out great!

Dr. Mylène Hopf | Better Business Portraits

I did a Business Portrait (Headshot) session for a local NUCCA Chiropractor this week. Dr. Mylène Hopf works out of Dr. Jeffrey N. Scholten's office in NW Calgary and she wanted a new headshot to use on her LinkedIn and other social media accounts to help promote her growing Chiropractic practice. I have had the good fortune to get to know Mylène over the last few months (she organized the recent Ladies Night of Indulgence event that I took part in) and she has a sparkling personality. SMArt Headshots | Better Business Portraits

I had an opportunity to create Business Portraits for the team at a local Calgary IT company called Service Management Art (SMArt). They needed a Portrait Photographer to make headshots for use on their website, social media accounts, and print materials. We had a fun portrait session in their offices and I came away with a few great images that I'm very happy with. Those of you that have heard me speak at a Calgary business networking meeting probably know how I feel about bad business portraits... they need to go away! Your business headshot is the first thing that people see when they look you up on your company website, on LinkedIn, on Facebook, or even on Twitter.
