Free Desktop Wallpaper for March 2018 – Prairie Winter Landscape

This month's calendar features a beautiful line of frost covered trees on a prairie farm field to the east of Calgary. It was one of those bright hazy days where you couldn't see much of the sky in front. But every once in awhile when you turn around you find something amazing! I got very lucky when I found this line of icy trees that the skies had cleared behind them and the cloud formations made the image far more dramatic than it would have been otherwise!

Free Desktop Wallpaper for December 2017 – Foothills Sunrise

This month's calendar features a landscape image from the foothills to the west of Calgary at sunrise. These old barns, grain bins, and other random farm equipment are widely spread throughout the prairies and I love to photograph them whenever I can! This is the best time of year to see the amazing sunrises and sunsets near Calgary since so many people are out and about at those times of the days in winter. Everyone should take the opportunity to go for a drive out on the prairies before or after work to see for themselves how beautiful this time of year is!

Free Desktop Wallpaper for March 2016

This month's calendar image features a pair of horses in a farm field just east of Calgary at sunset. The dramatic sunset lit up the clouds over the horizon and created a beautiful silhouette of the Rocky Mountains on the western horizon and a chinook arch high overhead. The horses observing me from the farm field near the road were a lucky break and a fun addition to the photo!

Free Desktop Wallpaper for September 2015

This months calendar image comes from a recent hike near the Mesa Butte Recreation Area in south Kananaskis. The hazy skies were a result of the forest fire smoke that had drifted across the province from major fires in Washington State. Although the smoke was far from the worst it had been, it was still heavy enough to cause the distant mountains to disappear in the haze.

Free Desktop Wallpaper for August 2015

This months calendar image comes from a recent drive out onto the prairies to the east of Calgary to photograph the sunrise and to search for birds, animals, and scenic landscapes. This hayfield is just south and east of Calgary (near Indus, Alberta) and the huge storm clouds in the background had already passed by to the south of Calgary.
