A spotted Mule Deer Fawn in Kootenay National Park

Free Desktop Wallpaper Background Image

As a little bonus for my friends and followers every month I provide a free image for use as your desktop background wallpaper on your computer. Each beautiful photo is a picture that I have created and it always includes a calendar overlay for the month. I know that I’m always looking for a calendar and having one on my desktop is very convenient!

The Serengeti of the North

I don’t know if anyone really considers Kootenay National Park to be the The Serengeti of the North or not, but that’s what one of the park naturalists told us during an interpretive program at Redstreak Campground. I will say that we did see plenty of animals right in the campground, many of them only meters from our own campsite. We saw several small herds of Mule Deer and Bighorn Sheep, plenty of Red Squirrels, and far too many wasps for my liking.

The wallpaper image for this month is a mule deer fawn that we saw in our campsite while staying at Redstreak. This was actually one of 2 pairs of twins that we saw in the park. They were very accustomed to people being around and almost completely ignored us as we walked through their home. It was very interesting to be able to observe them at such close quarters. As you can imagine I made a lot of pictures of them all, especially the spotted babies that were so adorable. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
