Hot Off the Presses: Pawsitive Dawgs Charity Calendar

I was honored to be one of the photographers asked to create pet portraits for the annual Pawsitive Dawgs Training (aka PDawgs) calendar this year. This is a charity calendar that will raise money for Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation. Pawsitive Match is a pet rescue organization that helps to match pets that need a new home with a perfectly matched owner. All of the profits from the sale of this years calendar will go to Pawsitive Match to help them do the things they do. The Calendar looks amazing and I am so happy to have been involved! I have a few copies of the calendar available for sale for $10 each. These will make great Christmas Presents, so please let me know how many you need. If you have an opportunity where you think you might be able to sell a few of them please let me know that too. Here are a few spreads out of the calendar that include images that I created:

Santa Baby – Christmas Greeting Cards

It's just about time to start thinking about your Christmas greeting card order for this year! While I still have many of the designs that were available last year (in both flat photo cards and traditional press printed flat or folded greeting cards), I also have a number of new designs and an all new boutique line of Die-Cut cards. Boutique cards are press printed on traditional greeting card stock. They are also die-cut to create basic shapes, curved shapes, scalloped edges, geometric and ornate designs. Die-cut Cards may be provided with sticker or magnet backings for fun gifts and year round display for your friends and family. These are a premium press-printed product that you are not likely to see from any of your friends! They are available in several shapes (Round, Square, Rectangular, Ornate, Scalloped, and more), and sizes (5x5, 5x7). Also new this year are additional sizes for the flat photo cards. Last year I only offered 5x7 cards. This year I have added 4x6, 4x8, and 5x5 cards to the line-up. Every holiday card order will be custom tailored using your own images, names, greetings, etc. Mailing envelopes are included with every order. Pricing for the various shapes and sizes can be seen by visiting the Sample Portrait Gallery in the client area of the website. Here are example images for all of the greeting card designs that are available this year:

Simply Monday: Fall Harvest

We spent a good chunk of the day yesterday doing some fall yardwork. We had a lot of summer cruft built up int he back yard that all needed to be cleaned up and put away. We also had to tidy up the garden and harvest the rest of the vegetables. We've been eating the peas, carrots, tomatoes, onions, and potatoes for weeks now, but there was still lots left in the garden to dig out. We cleaned everything up this morning and it will be put to good use for our Thanksgiving feast tonight! Happy Thanksgiving!

George Campbell | Better Business Portraits

I had an amazing business portrait session recently with George Campbell of Fall Line Systems Inc. Fall Line is a Calgary based management consulting firm that works "with ambitious organizations and their leaders, helping build the vision, capabilities and action required to achieve remarkable results." George came looking for business portraits for use in his corporate marketing materials, on the company website, and in social media promotions. He mentioned that he wanted something that he would be able to use for promotional materials where the background might get need to be removed from image first, so we shot a lot of images on a white background. But he also wanted some more traditional headshots for use in other media, so we also did quite a number of photos using my rich blue studio backdrop. George indicated that he could probably use several images, so we did a few different outfit combinations and a wide variety of poses. I wanted to make sure that he had a good selection of more traditionally posed images to choose from (for use as an avatar on LinkedIn and on the website), but I also wanted to give him a variety of other interesting choices so that he could choose the right photo for any particular need. We managed to create some really great images and we took advantage of the fact that George has a very happy and expressive face. I really enjoy this kind of session where we get the "safe images" out of the way first, and then we can work together to make something a little more creative. Fun, fun, fun! Slideshow – Fall Portraits at Carburn Park

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR35xS0culc&w=640] Carburn Park is one of my favorite places in Calgary to do portrait sessions at any time of year. In the fall the beauty of the park is magnified by the golden yellow leaves and it becomes a perfect backdrop for family portraits. There are so many great places in the park to explore and play, so it's great for kids and adults at the same time. I met David and Kelsey at the park for a family session last weekend and we were able to hit all of my favorite spots in the park. It was a great session and we had lots of fun! This slideshow contains a mix of posed and candid images of the family as we wandered around the park. Everyone had a great time and it was really great to hang out with such a wonderful family in a beautiful place. This is the third portrait session that I've done for the members of this family and I'm honored that they keep coming back. For that I say Thanks! Every session has been very different, but they have all been fun... Here are a few of my favorite images from the day: Just for fun, here are a couple of other images from business portrait sessions I've done with David and Kelsey:
