Kelsey Frank | Better Business Portrait

The weather is finally warming up in Calgary and I'm starting to see some call for outdoor portrait sessions. This is fantastic news as I would honestly rather do all of my sessions outside! The local parks are amazing and I love meet my clients there. These are images that I created for a local small business owner for her website, social media accounts, and marketing materials. Kelsey is the owner of Tossy Tossy, which is a brand new Professional Organizing company in Calgary. Less Is More! This is the motto of Tossy Tossy Inc! We are a Professional Organizing company specializing in home organization. We come to your home to help you identify what needs to be address to make your house the home you want it to be. This can be as simple as organizing part of one room up to organization of an entire house! It was a pleasure to work with Kelsey. Her sparkling personality shines through all the time and it was easy to create some great images of her. When I work with small business owners I always try to work with them to get images that will best reflect their brand. People in the financial and insurance industries generally want fairly conservative images, and actors usually go for much more flamboyant looks. In this case I was really trying to play up her Sassy (or Cheeky) nature because I think that it works well with Kelsey's company name... She was very happy with the images and I think they turned out great!

New Client Testimonial

Client Testimonial from a Trash the Dress Session Testimonial - Trash the Dress and Engagement Photography I recently received this wonderful Client Testimonial from my friend Lauren. I've photographed Lauren and her husband Eddy many times over the last few years and long-time readers of this site may remember the Engagement Session and the Trash the Dress Photoshoot that I've previously posted. The Trash the Dress shoot in particular is one of the favorite and most memorable sessions that I've ever done. If you haven't seen it you should definitely check out the behind the scenes video slideshow from the trip... So, many thanks to Lauren for your kind words. It means a lot to me and I'm very thankful to have such a great friend! “When Sean first suggested a "Trash the Dress" photo shoot to me I thought it could be interesting but I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into. My husband and I love the mountains and after tossing around a few ideas Sean suggested hiking Cirque Peak. Cirque Peak is my favourite hike in the Banff area and I was so excited when Sean suggested it. Sean was an excellent sport and lugged a large amount of camera gear on a 16 km hike that ended at an elevation just under 10,000 ft. Sean was willing to go the extra mile to give us pictures that actually show who we are. Now my trash the dress photos are my favourite photos of the two of us. When people ask to see our wedding pictures I tend to skip over the actual wedding and jump right to the photos that Sean did for us. Sean was amazing to work [...]

A Year in Pictures – Short Version

I was given the opportunity to do a short (5 minute) presentation about my business today at the Calgary Professional Business Owners & Managers Meetup Group that I attend regularly, and I decided to use a fusion video slideshow of images to show off some of my favorite work from the past year. Some of you may remember another video slideshow that I showed here a couple of months ago entitled "A Year in Pictures". I was very happy with that presentation but the slideshow itself was over 5 minutes long, and so I had to cut it down. I'm calling this the short version of "A Year in Pictures" because it includes many of the images that I used in the longer one, but the total length of the slideshow is now just under 2 minutes. Using this version for my presentation today allowed me to talk about my Calgary Photography business while also showing just enough images to give the group a good overview of the type of photography that I'm capable of creating and interested in doing.

Voting Day

Today is the federal election day in Canada and it's really important that you get out and vote! Did you know that only 40-50% of eligible Canadians vote? Let's change that this time around. This is a very important election and your vote matters! You do not need a Voter Information Card. If you go to Elections Canada On-line, you can register and find your polling station. You can also bring proof of your identity to the poll. Polling stations close at 7:30 PM tonight, but anyone in line prior to 7:30 will get to vote...
