Calgary Real Light Workshop

I would like to announce an incredible workshop opportunity coming to Calgary this summer. I hope you will consider joining me for two days with fashion and editorial photographer Troy Moth as he passes through Calgary on a cross Canada road trip this summer. This will be a hands-on photography workshop where Troy will show us what he does in typical (real-life) assignment situations, using equipment that is available to all of us. We will all get a chance to interact with the models and to create images of our own. This is a fantastic opportunity that doesn't come along very often. Where: Calgary Chinese Cultural Community Center (downtown Calgary near Eau Claire Market) When: July 24-25, 2010 Cost: $350 Instructor: Troy Moth - http://www.TroyMoth.com The Real Light Workshop Website: http://www.reallightworkshop.com Online Registration: http://reallightcalgary.eventbrite.com/ About the Instructor: The Troy Moth was born in the deep woods of British Columbia. He was raised by a group of tree planters and spent the first few years of life sleeping in a tent. After a few seasons the Moth moved to a ranch next to the ocean. The Moth still prefers sleeping in a tent to a bed and he now feeds mostly on pomegranates and lychee. As the Moth grew older, he migrated across Canada to Toronto with only his beard for protection. The Moth can now be spotted across Canada and India with his camera. While traveling India the Moth has shot for editorial clients such as: Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Grazia, Rolling Stone, and GQ. The Moth has also been spotted in Applied Arts Magazine for best in fashion the last two seasons. About the Real Light Workshops: "The workshop starts with the foundation, a basic [...]

More Portraits of Danielle and her Violin

Here are a few more photos from my session with Portrait of Danielle and her Violin from a couple of weeks ago. I had a really hard time choosing between all the images that I made. This was such a fun session and I think the images speak for themselves...

Portraits of Danielle and her Violin

I had a really fun studio portrait session recently with a family friend. Danielle has always been a real sweetheart and when her mother asked if we could do some portraits while she played the violin I immediately agreed. I've known for a long time that she has been taking music lessons, but I had no idea just how much she loves to play. I was amazed by how good she is and I really enjoyed hearing her play. There are so many cliches about kids learning to play the violin and what they sound like, but none of those apply here. Danielle is truly talented and her music made the session go by very quickly. I'm really looking forward to another opportunity to make some images of Danielle and her violin. We have tentatively agreed to do another session very soon, but the next one will be outside instead of in the studio. Hopefully the Calgary weather will cooperate and we can make it happen soon! Stay tuned for more images...

New Packages and Pricing

I have received some great feedback from a few people that are very important to me that the information available about my Portrait and Lifestyle packages needed some work. They were lacking some important details to begin with, and they were a bit too complicated anyway. In order to fix this I have completely revised all of my packages and pricing. The important details can now be found in two downloadable PDF guides. I will continue to tweak these guides as required based on customer feedback, but the prices will not change significantly in the short term. The Portrait and Print Pricing Guide (Spring 2010) and the Baby's First Year Program Guide are now available for download. Note that the pricing in these guides will take effect immediately, but if you really have your heart set on one of my previous packages then please feel free to ask for it and I'd be happy to oblige. P.S.: Do you want to stay informed of new promotions? Please sign up for the Riverwood Photography News mailing list. Newsletters will go out approximately once a month.
