Altadore Gymnastics Club Silent Auction

Donation to the Altadore Gymnastics Club Silent Auction Here is a great opportunity to get a Portrait Session while also supporting a great cause! I have the pleasure of being able to donate a Free 1 Hour Lifestyle Portrait Session (including a Framed 8x10 print) to be sold at a silent auction this coming Saturday (February 5th, 2011) at Schanks South Athletic Club in Calgary. This is a $200 value! How high will you go to get it?? The auction is in support of the Altadore Gymnastic Club. Altadore is a completely non-profit, parent run organization that "provides comprehensive recreational & competitive gymnastics for men & women athletes of all ages". They have a really great program and they provide first class training to all of their competitive athletes and other participants. My own children have had many great hours of fun at the club for recreational Gymnastics Classes and also for Birthday Parties, and I am proud to be able to support their fundraising initiative!

Product Showcase – Valentines Cards

Custom Designed Photo Greeting Cards I've had a couple of inquiries recently from clients wishing to have custom cards made for Valentines Day. Although I have several beautiful templates available for Valentines Day I've never actually advertised them before. So this is just a quick post to show off a few of the designs that I have available. All of these designs are completely customizable; I can quickly change the colors, the fonts, and of course the text. Alternatively if you have a specific idea for a card that you would like to send out I can probably help you with that too. These great cards are a wonderful way to show off your images from a recent Baby or Children's photography session, or even for Family or Engagement photos. Note that I also have card designs available for all of the major holidays (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.), as well as for those special days in our lives like Birth Announcements and Birthdays. If you'd like to see some other greeting card designs for a particular event please let me know and I'll do what I can to help you out. One last thing... Timing is getting pretty tight for delivery in time for Valentines Day. I can still get them done for you if you get your order in by Tuesday, February 8th. I also have a limited number of times available between now and then if you would like to book a photography session. Please call me at 403-615-3708 if you'd like to book a session or if you want to order some cards using images from a past session. Pricing and Delivery Times Photo greeting cards are available for purchase using images [...]

Portraits and Group Shots

I had a recent corporate photography session with the Board of Directors and several senior employees of MCF Housing for Seniors. MCF is a local non-profit organization that provides "affordable, safe and secure housing options for Calgary's seniors". The photo session was held in one of the facilities that the organization operates. They wanted a group portrait that included only the volunteer members of their Board of Directors, as well as another group shot including the Directors and the Senior Employees in attendance. They also needed business head shots for several people as well. I pre-scouted the location to make sure that it would be suitable for the images that I was being asked to provide. As soon as I walked into the lodge I knew that I wanted to do the shoot right in the middle of the main lobby. The building has a rather grand entrance that opens onto a magnificent central lobby with vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows on either end. The residence wings are arrayed to each side of the lobby and their are balconies at each end of each floor that open onto the lobby. The residents of the lodge use the lobby area for meals, social gatherings, and special events. There is a large open area in the center of the room that I thought would be perfect for the group shots. I knew that some of the residents would be eating their breakfast in the background of the scene, but to my mind that added to the images rather than detracting. I felt that it would highlight the softer side of the organization (and it's reason for being) while also reducing the corporate feeling automatically associated [...]

Results from Pawsitively Dog Park Portrait Day

In my head I thought that I had posted these images already, but while going back through the blog today I realized that I hadn't done so. In fact I discovered a few other sessions that I had intended to post that aren't there either, so I'll have to get around to doing those ones soon too! Anyway, these images are from a special pet photography promotion that I ran in conjunction with the great people over at Pawsitively Natural Dog Daycare & Training Academy. We met at River Park off-leash park for some fun with the dogs and some pet portraits for their humans. It was very cold out that morning but it was a beautiful day and we got some great results! I'm looking forward to doing more of these dog park portrait days in the spring and summer. If you're interested in having some portraits made with your pets then either stay tuned, or feel free to give me a call anytime and we can set something up. If you've been following along on the blog you'll no doubt realize that I've done a couple of events with Pawsitively Natural, and there will definitely be more to come. Stay tuned for details about a really great charity fundraiser coming up!
