Josephs Wedding Photography
I recently had the honor of photographing Ron and Brenda’s wedding. The formal pictures of the bride and groom (with their family and the wedding party) were at Carburn Park in Riverbend.

In the fall the beauty of the park is magnified by the golden yellow leaves and it becomes a perfect backdrop for family portraits. There are so many great places in the park to explore and play, so it's great for kids and adults at the same time. I met David and Kelsey at the park for a family session last weekend and we were able to hit all of my favorite spots in the park. It was a great session and we had lots of fun! This slideshow contains a mix of posed and candid images of the family as we wandered around the park. Everyone had a great time and it was really great to hang out with such a wonderful family in a beautiful place. This is the third portrait session that I've done for the members of this family and I'm honored that they keep coming back. For that I say Thanks! Every session has been very different, but they have all been fun... Here are a few of my favorite images from the day: Just for fun, here are a couple of other images from business portrait sessions I've done with David and Kelsey:
I had a beautiful engagement session with Charity and Bruce (and their dog Lola) at the Ranche recently. They are such a beautiful couple and the Ranche is one of my favorite places for photography. The place has so much going on that there ends up being a really wide variety of stuff to use as a backdrop for portraits. My two favorites are the walls of the red barn and the long grasses in the nearby fields. Charity and Bruce were both great sports and they were willing to try anything I asked for, which always makes my job easier! It was great to be able to spend a few minutes with the couple in a more relaxed setting before their upcoming wedding. Even though this event will be relatively small, weddings are always pressure packed and it's much nicer to get to know each other in a different atmosphere before the wedding. Thanks to Charity and Bruce for including me in their big day! I'm really looking forward to it!
I had a fantastic family portrait session at The Ranche in Fish Creek Park with the Graham family. We had a beautiful day out and there were lots of laughs by everyone in the group! We wandered around the park and found lots of fun spots to use. Everyone had a great attitude and they were all very helpful and willing to try anything. The Ranche is a very popular destination for Calgary Portrait Photographers because of the wide variety of places to shoot. We made use of the gardens and pathways, an old bridge, a park bench, and I even convinced the family to sit in the long grasses in the field. I knew that the glowing green grass would provide a wonderful background in the bright sunlight and I was excited when they agreed to do it! I think the images speak for themselves, but I'd love to hear your thoughts?? The summer portrait season is in full swing and I still have a few openings at the end of August. Call soon to book.... The fall portrait season is coming to Calgary sooner than we'd like to imagine!
It's been pretty quiet around these parts for the last few weeks... I was extremely busy from mid November through mid December trying to make sure that all my existing Calgary clients had all the gift prints and portraits that they needed ready to go in plenty of time for Christmas. And then I went on holidays myself. I've been very fortunate to be able to take a nice long break through the holiday period to spend lots of time with my family, and I've hardly even thought about photography in that time. Of course I've made plenty of images of my kids enjoying Christmas and spending lots of time with their cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc., but for me that hardly counts at all since I do that all the time anyway. It has been a really nice break and I'm feeling energized and ready to start the new year. I've got a few fun photography projects that are already in the works and plenty of other ideas for new and exciting things to offer in the coming weeks and months. I'm really looking forward to the coming year and I hope that you will be there with me! I thought I would share a few images that I made on a recent trip to the park with my kids (mostly to try to keep the crickets and moths away from this site). These images are very typical of a lifestyle portrait session that I do with children and families. One major difference is that I forgot to bring a comb to clean up my daughter's hair. Oh well, she's still beautiful even with messy hair! The park is in Winfield that and adjacent [...]
